MFA Mobile

Role: Lead UX & UI Designer, Animator

For the Museum of Fine Arts, I reimagined how visitors access and engage with exhibition content, both within the museum and beyond. The result was MFA Mobile, a responsive digital experience that extends the museum’s storytelling into visitors’ hands. I designed two flexible Drupal CMS templates, one light and one dark, with customizable background colors and a typographic hero slide that can feature either an image or video.

Problems to solve

Redesign or re-invent the way in which a visitor could access content regarding an exhibition, within or outside of the museum. Visitors were able to scan QR Codes placed around the museum or visit the pages from their devices at home to access more content.

Below are several MFA Mobile Pages for Special Exhibitions & Galleries at the MFA.

Typography & Motion Graphics Animation

During my time at the MFA, I also learned animation and applied it to create motion graphics and animated titles used both in exhibitions and within MFA Mobile, adding depth and energy to the overall visual experience.

What I learned…

I learned how to translate user-centric design principles into a visitor-centric experience, designing solutions tailored to the needs and behaviors of museum guests. I gained hands-on experience with typographic and illustrative animation, and began developing my innovation skills by creating engaging interactions within a brick-and-mortar UX environment.
